Member Spotlight: Mel Young

Mel Young is a Curriculum Developer in the Teaching and Learning Innovation Hub at Cambrian College in Sudbury, ON. In her role, she facilitates orientations and the Teaching Excellence Program for new faculty hires and supports faculty in course development and delivery. She is the Resource Coordinator for the Educational Developers Caucus, an affiliate group of STLHE, and runs the Resource Review website.

Last month, Mel attended the Open Education Conference in Phoenix, Arizona to present with her colleagues on their open educational practices, specifically renewable assessments and OER creation. Previously, Mel presented at the CNIE Conference 2018 about creating open education assessments to add relevance, empowerment and metacognition to college-level writing assignments. She has been a member of CNIE since 2017. Mel is open to connecting with CNIE members about open pedagogy and teaching practices that break the traditional post-secondary model.
